Description
Masteron Propionate, known chemically as Drostanolone Propionate, is an injectable anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) derived from dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Historically used to treat breast cancer in women, it is now primarily used by bodybuilders and athletes during “cutting” cycles to enhance muscle hardness, definition, and vascularity.
Key Characteristics and Effects
-
- Mechanism: It is a derivative of DHT, meaning it does not convert to estrogen (aromatize) and actually acts as an aromatase inhibitor in the body.
- Primary Use: Used for bodybuilding, particularly in the final weeks before a competition to achieve a “dry” and hardened physique.
- Side Effects:
While it does not cause estrogenic side effects (like gynecomastia or water retention), it is highly androgenic. Potential side effects include hair loss (accelerated male pattern baldness), acne, increased body hair growth, and, in women, virilization symptoms.
- Liver Toxicity: Unlike many oral steroids, Masteron Propionate is not hepatotoxic (no liver damage).
- Administration: Propionate is a short ester, requiring frequent injections, typically every other day.
Dosage and Cycle
- Typical Dose: For males, it is commonly used in ranges of 300–500 mg per week, though some users may go higher.
- Cycle Length: Usually run for 6–8 weeks in cutting phases.
- Stacking: It is rarely used alone and is often stacked with testosterone, Anavar, or Trenbolone.
