Description

Oxymetholone tablets (commonly known as Anadrol, Anadrol-50, or generics like OxyLex in some underground lines) are oral anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) tablets containing oxymetholone as the active ingredient. The standard strength is 50 mg per tablet, though some formulations go up to 100 mg (rare).

Key Details:

Active Ingredient: Oxymetholone – a potent synthetic derivative of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), modified with a 2-hydroxymethylene group and 17-alpha alkylation for oral bioavailability. It’s one of the strongest oral AAS available.

Half-life: Short, about 8–9 hours → requires daily dosing (often split into 2 doses) for stable levels.

Primary Medical Use: Approved (though rarely prescribed today) for treating severe anemias caused by deficient red blood cell production, such as:

• Acquired or congenital aplastic anemia.

• Myelofibrosis.

• Hypoplastic anemias from myelotoxic drugs.

• Off-label historically for HIV-associated wasting, osteoporosis, or muscle wasting in malnourished patients. It works by stimulating erythropoietin production (boosting RBCs) and has strong anabolic effects.

Common Off-Label/Performance Use: Extremely popular in bodybuilding for bulking phases due to:

• Rapid, massive muscle and strength gains (often 10–30+ lbs in a 4–6 week cycle, though much is water/glycogen).

• Dramatic increases in size, fullness, and power (one of the best “wet” bulking orals).

• Enhanced protein synthesis, nitrogen retention, and appetite (great for hardgainers). It’s typically used short-term (4–6 weeks max) as a kickstarter in cycles, often stacked with injectable testosterone (like Textocex/Textotex from your previous questions) and sometimes injectables like Trenmix or Boldetex for synergy. Not ideal for cutting due to significant water retention and estrogenic effects.
